Challenging Perfomace

voice actors and the actors of the show sketch Dato 'Maharaja Lela.

ON 14th September 2015, us, the cast for staging of Dato Maharaja Lela felt thankful that we were able to give the best performance at the closing of the independence of Malaysia's 58th this year. Even though many of us doesn't remember the script but the spectator still understand what we want to tell in the story. That's why we are so thankfully! Even there's many new members who have not ever played in sketches before, but they did their best for this sketch! and that make me proud of them :)

Before this, we did a sketch for teachers who have pension and teacher who had moved to another school, now our challenge to make a historical sketch of Malaysia's Independence Day 58th of this year. And sketches this time tells the story of British colonial rule in Malaya in the past and also tells the story of the Malay people who strive for freedom from British colonialism led by Dato 'Maharaja Lela. We, as actors were proud of our role to be the national figure character. It isn't easy to make a historical sketch especially for us who are still young.

The sketch tells how Dato 'Maharaja Lela, Dato' Sagor, Pakndak Indut and Sepuntum as the hero of the Malays, who plans to free the colonies from JWW Silver Birch and his cronies. And tells about how Dato 'Maharaja lela was called as traitors. Even though he was the man who free the land of Perak.

There are many lessons can we get from this casting, the properties of the Malays in the olds times, relieve nervous when on stage, get to know more about the history of Malay, can recognize more about the character of Malay independence..

I would like to thank the teacher who have guided us, Mrs. Hasmah binti Chin, and all those involved in these sketches.

  1. Hello Yamashita

you mentioned a teacher by the name of Hasmah binti Chin who guided you in the the show sketch Dato 'Maharaja Lela.

May I ask if Mrs Hasmah did her teaching degree in South Australia (graduating in the mid 1980's)
I ask for if Mrs Hasmah did study in South Australia at that time she may be an old friend of mine that I have lost contract with and I would like to catch up with her again.

May I ask you to make enquires on my behalf

    Best regards
    Mark
